Our Review

How to Catch a Garden Fairy is a magical addition to the How to Catch series!

The book is beautifully illustrated by Andy Elkerton with colorful and detailed pictures that bring the magic to life. There’s plenty to look at. Although the book is only 40 pages, reading time can be much more than expected simply because it’s so fun to stop and look at all the wonderful images!

This addition to the How to Series has some pretty cute references to other books in the series, such as How to Catch the Tooth Fairy and How to Catch a Unicorn. It seems all these magical beings are best friends! Fans of the series will appreciate this little shout-out to other books in the series.

The illustrations in this novel are especially magic, with plenty of colours and magical creatures to look at! Which coloured zebra is your favorite? The Garden Fairy has green, red, pink, and blue zebras in her stead!

The Fairy is trying to complete her magical chores alongside avoiding the children trying to catch a glimpse of her. Maybe this book will encourage your children to play pretend as a fairy by cleaning up!

The children didn’t necessarily try to catch the fairy, instead, they built our garden fairy a beautiful home! We loved that the fairy and the kids seemed to have a good relationship despite not having crossed paths. It shows that doing good deeds will have a positive effect on the world, even if one may not notice it at first!

This was an especially heartwarming springtime addition to the series! Perfect for a post-spring clean story!
