Our Review

This is another cracking instalment to one of our favorite children book series of all time! With its signature cute and dynamic artstyle from illustrator Andy Elkerton, this is the perfect book to get you and the family into that perfect festive mood!

The book incorporates many classic fairytales and children’s storybooks. Although some may go over your kindergartener’s head, there’s plenty of references that I was excited to get. Even more to the point, the references allow a new list of books to be potentially added to your child’s repertoire!

Wallace and Elkerton weave other book characters into this story as the gingerbread man leaps out of the book and races around the library. Although, some kids may be a little disappointed that the gingerbread man in this book can’t leap out of the pages and run around! He avoids the kids’ traps with help from the other book characters until he returns to the book so the librarian can finish the read-aloud.
