Our Review

It’s every parent’s favorite time of year! With the kids full of excitement for Santa coming, this is the perfect book to snuggle up with on Christmas Eve to get the little ones into the magical mood of Christmas.

We especially loved the nod to the Elf on a Shelf, a tradition which I think most households with children now participate in. When me and my nephew read this, he excitedly dragged me to his Elf on the Shelf and implored me to read aloud to the elf as well, since he has a cameo.

This time of year is wrought with mischief, especially with overcurious kids wanting to get a sneak peek at Mr.Claus. This book, although it may instill the idea of catching an elf, it tells the kids that there’s no point trying, the elf is too cunning!

This fun book provides a new look into the elf/Santa dynamic. The elf, unlike the traditional worker/boss relationship many view the elves and Santa, in this book the elf gives Santa a bit of a runaround. My nephew adored the scene with Santa getting tripped up by the elf, and asked me brightly if he reckons this will be what will happen on Christmas Eve.

As always, this is another excellent addition to the How to Catch series, and in my opinion, a perfect stocking stuffer for Christmas Eve!
