Our Review

How to Catch a Reindeer is a wonderful addition to the How to Catch series!

This story really has some fun and ingenious ways to try and catch a reindeer – let’s hope that kids don’t try and catch any of Santa’s real reindeer with these methods! Moreover, there’s a good amount of interactive engagement in this story, which my nephew loved. As a result, we got well-versed in the Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen reindeer song!

A fun little note is that we follow Comet in this story – not the infamous Rudolph! It’s a rarity to follow another reindeer, so it was a nice little choice made by the author. Moreover, Comet especially is curious about the humans. Because kids are lovely but they are also setting traps! Yep. These kids are not waiting at home for Santa to arrive and get some nice presents, oh no, these kids are setting some hilarious (and fantastic) traps with food like moss and carrots.

The illustrations are fun and attentive as ever. We especially liked that we could see the differences between the reindeer!

All in all, if you want a fun book about Santa Clause and an excellent little stocking stuffer – this book is perfect!

Unlike previous books, this addition to the series is not written by Adam Wallace. This is penned by Alice Walstead.
