In 2004, Kimberly joined forces with fellow artist James Dean, and together they brought Pete the Cat to life through children’s books. In Pete the Cat: Crayons Rock!, Pete the Cat loves to draw. He loves to use his big box of crayons to draw all sorts of things, like cars, trucks, flowers, and trees. And most of all, he loves to draw his friends.

One day, Pete decides to draw a picture of all of his friends. He starts with Grumpy Toad, then he draws Gus the Gopher, and then he draws Callie Cat. He uses all of his favorite colors, and he makes sure to make each friend look just right.

When Pete is finished, he shows his friends the picture. But Pete’s friends aren’t happy with the pictures and criticise them. This makes Pete sad and he doesn’t want to draw anymore. But his teacher soon teaches him that art doesn’t have to be perfect. That art should be for everyone and it’s more about the creativity than creating something that is perfect.
