About The Author

It’s no surprise that a man like Jory John found his way in children’s books. Early in his career, he volunteered at an educational nonprofit in San Francisco before being hired as the program director. There he created Thanks and Have Fun Running the Country: Kids’ Letters to President Obama.
His books have landed on the New York Times bestseller list including the first (The Good Egg) and second positions (The Bad Seed). He seems pretty happy about it too!
Aside from The Food Group Series, which earned him the bulk of his awards, Jory Johns has also written:
- Critter Jitters series
- Animal Problems series
- The Terrible Two series
- Goodnight Already! series
- All My Friends… series

Our Review
Couch Potato thinks his life is perfect, surrounded by screens and spending time inside. When the power goes out, our little friend is forced to go experience the real world in all its wonders.
This is a wonderful little novel which might be very relevant to those kids who were raised during the pandemic. Being brought up with the focus of staying inside, the shift from isolation to being encouraged to go out and explore the world can be a difficult feat. This book is an excellent and fun way of showing those children what they’re missing, and encouraging them to go out and have fun!
Like I said, this book even taught me a lesson, and I’m sure plenty of other grown-ups could do with giving this book a read!
